Lyoto Machida undergoes surgery, expects to resume training in mid-January
It just might not happen quite as soon as Machida, Rua and UFC president Dana White might like.
MMAjunkie.com today spoke with Machida's manager, Ed Soares, who confirmed "The Dragon" went under the knife on Friday and will be limited in training until mid-January.
Spooky Halloween News: War Machine Is Doing Porn
Well, this new development is appropriately terrifying for Halloween. War Machine, the fighter formally known as Jon Koppenhaver, has decided to do away with any lingering shreds of dignity that might have been clinging to him without his knowledge, and has officially become a porn star. The video above shows him receiving his first ass waxing to make his butt camera-ready, and while it probably wasn't necessary for him to post that to YouTube he did perform a public service by letting all the kids out there know that life as a porn star isn't all glamour and lube. There's actually some unsavory elements to it. Who knew?
He says he shot his first scene with Riley Steele and described it as "fucking awesome," before explaining that he took the gig because fighting wasn't paying the bills and he refuses to work for a living. It's like I've always said, when life gives you lemons, make a video of you having sex with those lemons and put it on the internet.

Ryan Bader sees UFC 104 win over Eric Schafer as “good sign of things to come”
But while "The Ultimate Fighter 8" winner's wrestling prowess and physical tools are an obvious asset, Bader recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio his mind may finally be catching up with his body.
"I felt this time I got in there, and I was relaxed," Bader said. "I think it's a good sign if I continue to do that in my next fight. I think this fight allowed me to turn a corner in my career."

WEC 45: Muhsin Corbbrey vs Zack Micklewright planned for Dec. 19

After running through the competition in Glory Fighting Championships and Midwest King of the Ring, Zack Micklewright (6-0) has landed a five-fight deal with the WEC and an opponent on the promotion’s year-end card.
Muhsin Corbbrey (7-4) is set to welcome the undefeated youngster to the promotion’s lightweight landscape at WEC 45: “Cerrone vs. Ratcliff” from “The Pearl” at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Dec. 19.
Corbbrey debuted in the WEC on Oct. 10 at WEC 43, losing via technical knockout to Anthony Njokuani. It marked Corbbrey’s second loss in a row, as he lost to Nick Diaz this past June in the now defunct Elite XC.
Corbbrey’s record isn’t astounding, but the way he fights makes him a solid asset for the WEC. He has only gone to the judges scorecards twice and is always looking for a slick submission finish.
Micklewright earned his spot on the WEC lightweight roster with an impressive 6-0 record, with his most recent win a submission (strikes) victory over Jaxon Mayson at Glory Fighting Championships 6 back in April.
Like Corbbrey, Micklewright is an exciting fighter who would rather leave it out of the judges hands. His debut was the only time he went the distance in a fight. However, Micklewright’s time in smaller promotions has come to an end, as he has been given a shot with one of the top promotions in mixed martial arts.
The WEC will be a true test for this 155-pound wrecking ball.
WEC 45 will be headlined by a lightweight brawl between Donald Cerrone and Ed Ratcliff. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for breaking news on the WEC’s last card of the 2009 fight season.

WEC officials declined to comment on the probability of the contest.

Josh Neer Gets His Walking Papers

('You guys, I just had the craziest dream. I was in the UFC and people kept exploiting my weak takedown defense, and it was like I was powerless to stop them...')
After suffering his second loss in a row and his third defeat in the last four outings, Josh "The Dentist" Neer has been released from the UFC, ending his third tour of duty inside the Octagon. It's not exactly a surprise to anyone who saw his scrap with Gleison Tibau at UFC 104 last weekend. In a fight that never was pay-per-view quality to begin with, Neer spent three rounds getting slammed on his back and embarrassing the entire state of Iowa with his poor takedown defense before losing via unanimous decision. At UFC 101 in August he suffered a similar fate against Kurt Pellegrino, who also outwrestled Neer en route to a plodding decision. It's hard enough to stay in the UFC when you're losing exciting fights. Getting blanked in boring ones is a sure-fire way to get out of that restrictive UFC contract you hate so much.
Neer is now 25-9-1 for his career, and 4-6 in the UFC. Good thing he has that DDS to fall back on, maybe open his own practice somewhere in Bettendorf. See kids, never underestimate the value of a good education. If Neer didn't have that right now, why, it would be a really, really depressing time for him.
Lightweight Josh Neer released from contract following UFC 104 loss
MMAjunkie.com learned of the move late Friday night.
Neer's release comes after a hard-fought unanimous-decision loss to Gleison Tibau on the main card of this past week's "UFC 104: Machida vs. Rua" event in Los Angeles.
