UFC 108 preview: A humbled Rashad Evans ready for climb back to the top
So, of course, Evans steps in to the main event of UFC 108 Saturday night in Las Vegas against Thiago Silva.
The Evans-Jackson bout is just one on a long list of fights that, for one reason or another, has failed to come together for the UFC over the past several months. But in our official event preview, MMAjunkie.com's Steve Sievert explains why the bout still has some significance and could lead to an eventual Evans vs. Jackson matchup.

Former UFC fighter Matt Arroyo awarded BJJ black belt
The 27-year-old fighter today told MMAjunkie.com he received the belt in a recent ceremony.
The honor came from his longtime instructor, Rob Kahn, the head of the Florida-based Gracie Tampa camp who earned his own black belt from grappling and MMA legend Royce Gracie.
UFC 108 Trailer Slip-Ups
Obviously, this is just a minute detail, but it did strike me as a little weird when I caught an error in the UFC 108 trailer.
Skip ahead to about 35 seconds into the trailer as the announcer addresses Dustin Hazelett, saying, “whose five wins in the UFC have all come by spectacular submission.” Well, that’s not really true.
Hazelett’s 4-of-5 in that respect. He’s finished with a submission in his last four UFC victories, and there’s no doubt that they’ve been spectacular (especially the most recent two), but his UFC debut against Diego Saraiva was a Unanimous Decision victory.
Not that it’s a huge gaffe, but it’s a little weird for the UFC to let something like that slip through screening (then again, they’re not exactly iron-clad when it comes to containing information).
Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch agree to rematch at UFC 111 in March
Alves (16-6 MMA, 9-3 UFC), who originally was expected to fight Ricardo Almeida at UFC 111, instead has agreed to fight Fitch (21-3 MMA, 11-1 UFC) at the March event.
Sources close to both competitors told MMAjunkie.com verbal agreements are in place for the welterweight matchup, though bout agreements have not been signed.
