CHARLOTTE, N.C. - While it could've been first-time octagon jitters or the noticeable adrenaline dump in the second round, Takanori Gomi likely faltered in his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut due to a much more obvious reason: Kenny Florian's remarkable standup game.Florian edged the former PRIDE champion and solidified his standing as the UFC's top lightweight not named B.J. Penn with a third-round submission victory on Wednesday.
The fight capped off UFC Fight Night 21, which aired live on Spike TV from Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., as a lead-in for the debut episode of "The Ultimate Fighter 11."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - In another impressive performance since his runner-up finish on "The Ultimate Fighter 9," Andre Winner controlled the pace and largely kept the fight standing to defeat Rafaello Oliveira.The fight capped off the un-televised preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 21, which took place tonight at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.
However, two of the card's most impressive performances came from middleweights Yushin Okami and Gerald Harris.
Jorge Rivera TKOs Nate Quarry at UFC Fight Night 21

Jorge Rivera put on a tremendous striking display in upsetting Nate Quarry with a second-round technical knockout Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 21. Rivera dropped Quarry midway through the first round, but Quarry got back up and drilled Rivera with an elbow. A minute later Rivera dropped Quarry again, and Rivera pinned Quarry against the cage, landed big punches and sent blood spurting out of Quarry's nose. Quarry got up but it wasn't long before Rivera dropped Quarry a third time, and it was surprising that Quarry even managed to survive the first round.

Former Ultimate Fighter winner Ross Pearson defeated Dennis Siver by unanimous decision Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 21, giving the Brit his biggest mixed martial arts victory to date.It was an impressive showing for the 25-year-old, who has now won two UFC fights since earning a contract with the promotion by winning the ninth season of the UFC's reality show.
