Mark Hunt vs Chris Tuchscherer set for UFC 127 in Australia

Pride never die.

The UFC's official website has added Mark Hunt vs Chris Tuchscherer to its lineup for UFC 127: "Penn vs Fitch" set to go down on Feb. 26 from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Hunt was brought to the promotion to allegedly satisfy a few stipulations of the Pride buyout back in 2007. Fans were shocked a fighter on a five-fight losing streak, no matter the competition, which featured a who's who of the sport, would ever be brought to the big show.

The UFC seemingly downplayed his signing and placed him in a bout with (at the time) relative unknown Sean McCorkle. About one minute and a kimura later and the losing streak reached six.

Can "The Crowbar" push it to seven?

Tuchscherer's claim to fame at this point is the fact that he is a member of Team Deathclutch, which is to say, he trains with megastar Brock Lesnar.

It hasn't helped him in the cage.

He opened his UFC career against Gabriel Gonzaga, a fight he lost by technical knockout after "Napao" rearranged his crotch and may have permanently affected his ability to create life.

A majority decision win over Tim Hague came next but was quickly overshadowed by yet another obliteration, this time at the hands of Brendan Schaub.

Will one more loss send him to the unemployment line?

UFC 127 is all set for Feb. 26 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia and will be headlined by a highly anticipated welterweight scrap between division reborn B.J. Penn and long time contender Jon Fitch. The co-main event of the evening will feature popular Brit Michael Bisping taking on the always entertaining Jorge Rivera.

Keep it locked to MMAMania.com for future updates on this event.

Cole-blooded: Donald Cerrone is a good fighter but he ‘sucks at life’

December 31st, 2010

Miller-gurgel_01_medium

At least if you're asking "Magrinho."

"Cerrone is a good fighter but he sucks at life. I guess I'll be ready to give him his ass whooping after I'm done fighting Matt Wiman. I would be more than happy to take a step down in competition to fight Cerrone and I think the UFC would definitely make it happen because it makes sense. ... Some people out there are just too dumb to realize that they are not any good and I want to show Cerrone that is exactly the case. When you think about it that is probably his biggest strength and at the same time his biggest weakness because he is too dumb to realize his actual skill level. ... After this fight with Wiman I'll tack up a picture of his face on my mirror so when I get up to start my day it will get me motivated to get into the gym, training harder than ever before and as a result I will be the on a totally different level. I'll be the best fighter that I've ever been when it comes time for me to fight and kill him."

Streaking lightweight Cole Miller tells Duane Finley at Bloody Elbow he's more than willing to throw leather with recent UFC acquisition Donald Cerrone. After his victory over Chris Horodecki at WEC 53, "Cowboy" called the lanky Georgian out, presumably to avenge his friend and training partner Leonard Garcia's loss to "Magrinho" back in 2007. Initially hesitant regarding the fight, Miller has thrown down the gauntlet, and is ready to welcome Cerrone to the world's largest fight promotion -- once he gets through with Matt Wiman at UFC: "Fight for the Troops 2" on Jan. 22 in Fort Hood, Texas. In the full interview, Miller touts his stellar jiu-jitsu, something reflected in his consecutive "Submission of the Night" winning performances his last two times in the cage. If the UFC indeed sets this fight up, can he add one of Cerrone's limbs to his growing collection?

MMA Quick Quote: Todd Duffee doesn’t regret fighting Alistair Overeem on short notice

December 31st, 2010

20090831072048_img_9037_medium

"Well, obviously, I'm extremely disappointed. I feel like I'm a much more talented fighter than I got the chance to show. Not to take anything (away) from Overeem, I think he's an incredible, incredible fighter. I was just disappointed, you know. I wanted to come out and put on a great show, exciting show for the fans but you know obviously I wasn't prepared. You know, I think I trained seven days for this fight and it definitely showed. ... I don't regret it at all. It was a great opportunity to fight in Japan. It's been a dream of mine. I hope that, you know, it maybe opened the door for me to come back here and show that I have a much, much better skill set than what I put on display..."

-- Todd Duffee reflects (via Fight Opinion) on taking a fight against K-1 and Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem on just seven days notice at Dynamite!! 2010 on Dec. 31. The UFC castoff had hoped to make a name for himself against such a high profile opponent. "The Reem" did what he does best though and "Demolished" the Duffman in just under twenty seconds. Duffee isn't discouraged however, and he even hopes his performance against "Ubereem" earned him another shot in Japan. Is he out of his mind for thinking so? Don't hold back, Maniacs.

UFC Fighters Share Their New Year’s Resolutions for 2011

December 31st, 2010

When I got the word from Nate that Bloody Elbow was going to start running my interviews it was one of the highlights of my year. I am fairly new to the MMA media world and for those of you who are unfamiliar with my work allow this to be our proper introduction. The first batch of interviews ran on Bloody Elbow as guest contributions but because of your response, feedback and overwhelming support it wasn't long before the call came for me to join the staff at Bloody Elbow full-time. In doing so I have become a part of a team that works diligently to bring our readers the best coverage in mixed martial arts and it is something I'm very proud to be a part of. As we close out 2010 and head into 2011 my job will continue to consist of bringing you the very best exclusive interviews. Whether it is a fighter on the verge of his first title shot or a specialist who has stepped away from the lime light but still dedicates his life to the sport, the voices of MMA are going to be heard on Bloody Elbow. Now that I have shared my goal for the upcoming year here are a few of the resolutions from some of MMA's finest.

Roy Nelson: "I don't believe in resolutions. I believe in making goals. This is much easier to plan out and execute. My goals for 2011 in MMA are simple. I want to lay out a plan to fight for the UFC heavyweight title or fight the best in the world. The problem here is that I can only control myself and throw the gauntlet down and hope that someone picks it up. The second goal that I do every year is to be a better human being and make a difference in both business and personal matters. If I can touch someone else's life than I have made that difference.

Krzysztof Soszynski "To stay healthy and fight strong!"

Rich Attonito "My New Year's Resolution is to keep pushing myself harder everyday and not to get complacent."

Dan Hardy "To use a submission and to choke somebody out in the UFC."

Mark Munoz "To stay more disciplined to my diet and walk around at 200 lbs. rather than 215 lbs.

Rick Story: "To win all of my fights!"

Marcus Davis: "My New Year's resolution is just to improve. I'm in this new mode of self-improvement and through this not just improving myself personally but also improving any body that I can by coming in contact with them. Whether it's my kids, friends, co-workers at the gym, students...I just really want to make sure that this year I give as much as I've received. I just want to come out of 2011 a new man and a better person."

Cole Miller: "Be a better fighter. Don't lose fights"

Brian Foster: "I want to kick my bad habits and focus on the small things in my game that will better equip me for my future in the UFC."

Matt Mitrione: "Not to be cliché but I want to be a better person. I want to be a little more patient, a bit more accepting to some things, and to be just overall a better person. I'm trying to live by the Golden Rule man."

Amir Sadollah: "My New Year's Resolution will be to stop paying the hookers before hand. Unfortunately I have come to learn that they are not all honest people.

Daniel Roberts’ pre-UFC 125 trash talk comes with “Ninja” like stealthiness

December 31st, 2010
When it comes to pre-fight trash talk, UFC 125's Daniel Roberts would like to channel his nickname, "Ninja."

That is, you don't see him coming, and before you know it? You're kaput.

So despite word around the family campfire that Saturday's opponent, Greg Soto, is talking a little bit of smack, he's not going to return fire.
